Hikvision POC [Power Over Coax] technology removes the need for additional cables by providing both power and data transmission through a single coaxial cable of RG59 or similar, between the camera and recorder, removing the need for additional power supplies. This therefore provides an easier set up, removing the "prep" work, providing a more cost efficient, often quicker CCTV installation.

Please note: POC transmission will not pass through CAT5/6 or baluns, it must be through RG59 or similar.

 

Whilst we recommend using both POC cameras and recorders together for optimum benefits, it is also possible to use a POC camera with a non POC recorder, and vice versa:

POC cameras with a non POC TVI recorder:  Power locally through a separate PSU

Non POC camera with a POC DVR:  Power the camera via a separate PSU and POC will only transmit when requested to by a compatible camera
